The Other Side

May 12, 2008

Hundreds of people are being deported from the United States to Mexico every day and many have nowhere to turn since their homes are very far away from the border communities.

A couple of centers for "undocumented migrants" are operating in Nogales, Mexico thanks to diverse groups uniting for this cause. They include volunteers from Tucson's Catholic Diocese, the municipal government in Nogales, Mexico and local activists.

Reporter, Tony Paniagua talks to an uncle and nephew who planned to travel thousands of miles from Chiapas, Mexico to Virginia but got caught in Phoenix- they entered the United States illegally but say they had no choice, hoping to provide for their families there. We also meet a volunteer from Tucson who's been going to the border for 4 years.

Join us tomorrow night for part two of The Other Side.
